My name is Nicola. I really enjoy creating. Whether it is painting, jewelry, lego
buildings, or just creating a mess. I'm particularily good at that last one.
I've had a small jewelry business for about 20 years now and still really enjoy it.
I'm from a family of artists. It's fun to see everyone's creations. So many different
ideas and visions.
I live in Seattle, WA with my husband Jon and two pugs, Daisy and Poppy.
I hope you enjoy viewing my work.
Thanks for visiting, -Nicola
Want More Bio? The long story ~
Originally from England, Nicola arrived in Seattle at about two months old. She
grew up in a very creative home. Where her Dad was an engineer for Boeing,
and her Mother a home maker, until the kids were in school. Both of her
parents are very creative. They like to draw, build, knit, make jewelry,
garden...always encouraging their kids to try different things.
Nicola is the second oldest of four siblings. She started making jewelry in sixth
grade after finding colorful wires left on the ground by the telephone workers.
She made wire earrings and eventually started adding beads. Soon progressing
to miniature Christmas wreathes and other small beaded objects.
In high school Nicola saw a ring that she really liked, but could not afford. Her Dad
took her to the Boeing Hobby Club where she learned the basics of lost wax
casting. With these skills under her belt she made that ring and kept on going.
Now she casts, fabricates and beads. While the majority of her work is sterling
silver jewelry she has many other interests. Some of them are painting,
computers, gardening, playing with her two pugs Daisy & Poppy, hanging out with
her husband Jon, family, friends and travelling when she can.
Her inspiration is drawn from ancient jewelry pieces, nature and pure imagination.
She enjoys creating timeless pieces that can be worn for years. And has a
strong draw to Celtic and Viking art. Connecting with the beautiful and rhythmic
lines and symbols.
Agauricus Jewelry opened in about 1989. Agauricus means "people having silver
and gold." Nicola and her Dad made the company name. It's a bit of a tricky
name to pronounce, so she often goes by the designer name Nicola Pauline.
ByNicola comes from all things made "by Nicola."
